Red Dead Redemption 2 Has recently been announced for Xbox One and Playstation 4. However there has been no reference to a PC version, this isn’t really that surprising seeing as Red Dead Redemption was originally a console only game. However in today’s market developers don’t want to be missing out on large chunks of possible income by limiting games to single avenues.
Could this be a ploy by Rockstar? its possible, seeing as they are brilliant when it comes to utilizing this type of staggered marketing policy, one where we see games released on competing platforms over several weeks, months and sometimes years. GTA 5 being a prime example of this mindset.
Michael Pachter – analyst at Wedbush Securities was recently asked his opinion of this:
They key words here are right now,I remember the announcement for GTA5 was Xbox 360 and PS3 only, when it was first announced in November 2011, I think. And then they waited until June of 2014, so literally two and a half years after the first announcement, and announced that it would be on Xbox One and PS4. And then- I forget the month, but I think it was several months later, they announced it for PC, which came out in 2015.

Although this is all speculation at the moment I see no reason for Rockstar to ignore the PC gamers. With the popularity of this game on console, and their proven track record of staggering releases I would expect to see Red Dead redemption 2 announced as ‘coming to PC’ in the near future. If not, could this be a way of alienating PC gamers?
