Brutal DOOM 64 is now available!

Brutal Doom 64 has finally been released by modder ‘SGTMarkIV’. This new incarnation of DOOM revitalizes the old nintendo Doom 64 game, adding new special effects, particles, lightning, gore, new sounds, more weapon animations (shotgun reloads, smoother minigun barrels, etc.) and monsters, direct from the Nintendo 64 version.

As its a mod (and not a stand alone game), its not just a simple case of downloading, clicking start and away you go – oh no, theres a little bit more to do than that. So for those of you who aren’t‘mod’ savvy, here’s what you need to do to play Brutal DOOM.

First off you need to download the Mod file from here, once done, just follow the simple steps below-

  • Unzip the content.
  • Place a doom2.wad file in the main folder. It doesn’t matters if you got the file from Steam,, whatever, any official version of the doom2.wad file will work. Final Doom iwads (tnt.wad and plutonia.wad) will also work.
  • Use “bd64 zandronum.exe” to play. You can make a shortcut of it on your desktop.

Brutal Doom 64 is a total conversion made for GZDoom/Zandronum for PC, that is made for OpenGL and makes heavy use of additive translucency and dynamic lights. This total conversion also comes with an option to play with the Brutal Doom 64 weapons and enemies on regular Doom 2 levels, or with custom maps. Or play the Brutal Dooom 64 levels with other gameplay mods.
