Growing demand for the latest edition to the Nintendo franchise the Nintendo Switch is causing some problems for Uk retailers.
Nintendo Switch has quickly become Nintendo’s fastest selling console in Europe, but this success has resulted in the Uk retailers having concerns over the apparent stock shortages.
Retailers are now looking to make sure that they can continue with success of supply and demand for the Nintendo Switch. They’re looking to continue to help maintain the momentum of sales and capitalise on the next opportunity that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe presents.
“We satisfied all pre-orders and blasted through the remainder of our initial allocation”, HMV head of technology and games Phil Browers explained to MCV. “Every single one of our pre-order customers received their console on lunch day and we’re optimistic that with some great games due to be released, Switch can establish itself as a successful third console in the market. We’re a bit tight (on stock) but we’re looking forward to more deliveries this week”.
ShopTo head of commercial Alison Fraser shared: Overall, it was a great success. I’m afraid we did have delivery issues which took the shine of the successful launch as we shipped to all our customers on Thursday which would have been in time for launch”.
Concerns were made apparent from one manager at a Uk retailer as they added that they had not yet received any confirmation from Nintendo about when to expect the next shipment. It’s believed they may have to wait until April for their stock to be replenished.
“We are in communications with Nintendo but there is not a confirmed date as of yet”, they shared. With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe coming in April I would hope there would be more stock before then but that’s not been confirmed.
Has Nintendo been caught surprised by the success for their Switch console. Retailers will surely be hoping for confirmation from Nintendo in the coming days.
Nintendo Switch has now officially been launched worldwide as is currently prices at £279.99 ($299.99).
