If like me, you’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of Sonic Mania, you will be a little saddened to hear that the release has been pushed back. During the recent SXSW Sonic panel Aaron Webber, Social Media Coordinator at Sega America revealed a lot of information regarding the upcoming game. The most important issue was, as stated, that Sonic mania would be getting pushed back until September as the development team wanted to make sure the game was ‘the best it can possibly be’.
Hot on the heels of this, Amazon quickly started sending out emails to everyone who has pre-ordered Sonic Mania, informing them of the altered release date. You should have already received an email from them informing you of the change, if not here’s what it looks like:
We have received new release date information to your pre-ordered video game. The release date for the video game listed below has been changed by the publisher, and we want to provide you with a new delivery estimate based on the new release date:
“Sonic Mania Playstation 4”
Estimated arrival date: September 04, 2017.
We’ll make every effort to get the delayed items to you as soon as possible.”
This new release date for Sonic has been updated for the PS4, PC, and XBox One versions of the game on Amazon but no information has been released yet regarding the Nintendo Switch version.
Webber also discussed the collector’s edition of Sonic Mania, and he had some bad news if you haven’t managed to pre-order one. The Collectors Edition will not be receiving another production run past the initial manufacturing, if you’ve not got one now then you’ve missed out.
